Sleep Better Tonight
For some people dozing off into a nice eight hour slumber is super easy. They will sleep through the night with no distractions and nothing causing them to stir. Then there are people like me who have a hard time unwinding and hitting the sack. Waking up to use the bathroom or because of a slight noise is a nightly occurrence and nothing seems to work to get me back to sleep. Recently I realized that I was just trying one tip a night and that if I were doing all that I should, then I would probably get some good rest in each night. I have tried out the below tips and I must say, so far so good.
- Ease into your sleep time by slowing dimming and reducing the light in your room. Start an hour or more before you plan on going to sleep. Make sure once the lights are off that your room is completely dark.
- Keep it dark in your room. Alarm clocks, televisions, and any device with some kind of light can cause you to stir. Cell phones are other light distractions that can cause issues. If you have light coming in from outside, then consider window treatments that will help block it all out.
- Make sure your bedroom stays cool. Your body temperature drops when you are sleeping. If your room is cool it can help ease you into sleep more quickly. It is recommended that the temperature of your bedroom be around or less than 70 degrees.
- The quieter your room, the better. Try to keep your room as quiet as possible. Rugs, curtains, and bedding are great ways to buffer out noise, but if they don’t do enough look into earplugs or white noise machines.
- The energy of your room should be calm. There should be no distractions like computers or cell phones in the room to drag your attention elsewhere.
