Injury Free Running
It Starts With Shoes
When running there is always that possibility of an injury occurring. Sometimes these injuries can change your running and training forever, so you definitely want to be sure that you are preparing every time you set out for a run to avoid an injury at all costs. One really great way to help in the prevention of injuries is to ensure that you have the proper shoes for your needs and body. Running shoes are primarily split into three different types: neutral, stability, and motion control. This will give you some tips on finding the shoes best for you and the types that I recommend and some of my marathon running friends recommend too.
The Neutral Shoe
Best for: You will notice that neutral shoes are the best for runners with normal or high arches and those whose feet do not roll inward (overpronation) or outward (underpronation) too much. Therefore these are the best for those runners who have a more neutral stance. You might also find that the neutral shoes are called cushioned too.
Shoes: The top pick for this style shoe are the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 13. This shoes is not only really lightweight, but it offers the best neutral support for runners.
The Stability Shoe
Best for: If you are a runner who has normal to low arches with some of a slight overpronation in your stance, then the stability shoe is the one for you. These will offer the best cushion for you along with some extra needed stability.
Shoes: This top pick is another pair of ASICS. The GT – 2160 is the pick for the perfect stability shoe. Mainly this shoes is designed to give control and stability in the arch and all over the foot to provide optimal support.
The Motion Control Shoe
Best for: If you are flat footed and have some serious overpronation, then the motion control running shoe is going to be your best bet. This will give you an insole that is better fitted to help offer support.
Shoes: Again ASICS takes the cake. The GEL Evolution 6 has a dual density mid sole and the liner is made of memory foam. A lot of motion control shoes are a little too heavy, but ASICS has created a lighter weighted shoe for motion control.
