Create Good Habits

Create Good Habits

Why is it that bad habits are just far easier than good habits.  Quitting the bad things is also harder than creating good habits, and so often I feel like I am on a see-saw.  One day I feel like I have done really good and the next day I fall right off the wagon.  There are some habits that I just quit, no problem.  Like smoking, I gave that right up.  I wasn’t a heavy smoker, but occasionally I would have a cigarette, maybe that’s why it was easier for me.  But there are things like not exercising, eating junk food and fast food that just really become struggles for me.  So, I am on a mission to create good habits and there is one thing that is going to help me to do that, planning in advance.

Working out is not something I love to do.  I mean, I don’t mind, and if it isn’t scorching outside you might find me on a run.  The thing that I really dislike about working out is that I have to cut out a chunk of my day to have the time to hit the gym or something like that.  I do not want to go to the gym after work and I really don’t want to wake up early to go, but I have to make time somehow.  I am planning on the gym in advance by writing it down in my planner.  If it’s there and I see, then I am more likely to stick to that schedule and not pass on the work out that I probably really need.

Healthy eating is tough to do, especially if I’m in a rush and unprepared.  Why is it that they have made fast food so easily accessible?  Oh yeah, it’s because they know rushed people like me will stop by and enjoy some of their calorie packed “meals.”  I have been planning my meals in advanced for about a month now and I can say that I have not had a bite of fast food since.  The only thing is that I do have to sit down and plan my groceries and lunches, but it is working.

I wonder what else I can plan for in my life to help create good habits…Any ideas?  I think pretty soon I’m going to be on my way to being healthy and bad habit free for life!
